Youtube feature film - The Zionist Story

Film notes - The Zionist Story, an independent film by Ronen Berelovich, is the story of ethnic cleansing, colonialism and apartheid to produce a demographically Jewish State.

Ronen successfully combines archival footage with commentary from himself and others such as Ilan Pappe, Terry Boullata, Alan Hart and Jeff Halper.
"I have recently finished an independent documentary, The Zionist Story, in which I aim to present not just the history of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, but also the core reason for it: the Zionist ideology, its goals (past and present) and its firm grip not only on Israeli society, but also, increasingly, on the perception of Middle East issues in Western democracies.
These concepts have already been demonstrated in the excellent 'Occupation 101′ documentary made by Abdallah Omeish and Sufyan Omeish, but in my documentary I approach the subject from the perspective of an Israeli, ex-reserve soldier and someone who has spent his entire life in the shadow of Zionism.

I hope you can find a moment to watch The Zionist Story and, if you like it, please feel free to share it with others. (As both the documentary and the archived footage used are for educational purposes only, the film can be freely distributed).

Setting Sail on Gaza's Sea of Spin - Ethan Bronner - New York Times

Diane V. McLoughlin - my comment (number 7) to the article, 'Setting Sail on Gaza's Sea of Spin'; Ethan Bronner; July 2, 2011; New York Times:

Such a mensch is Israel, doubling the daily ration of gruel to Gaza's babies. But if you're from Gaza don't try to go fishing or ship out trade from within your own territorial waters or Israel will blow you away. While Hamas has again and again offered a long-term calm, the Likud Charter continues to claim all the land of the Palestinian people. Accept a calm?! But then we must give up our claim to all the land! Yes? So. Do they accept the calm? No. They choose to oppress, to mistreat, to discriminate, to spit upon, to run down, to beat, to steal and to kill - with three billion American donated tax dollars in weaponry each and every year. There is not one point to the humanitarian flotilla effort but rather two: To bring supplies such as medicine - that is part of it. But it is also the physical of helping to free Gaza just by going there. The latter point is as simple as it is profound. It is why Israel fights it tooth and nail. It's kind of like getting up and going to sit at the front of the bus when you've been told it's against the law by virtue of your race. One might say, 'That's it? You just walked up the aisle? This is the big deal?' It must be understood: It's everything. And Israel knows it.

Gaza Flotilla Blind to Hamas - Arsen Ostrovsky - The Australian.com

Diane V. McLoughlin - Sharing below the comment I submitted to the article, 'Gaza Flotilla Blind to Hamas'; Arsen Ostrovsky; June 24, 2011;  theaustralian.com. (It doesn't look like the comments section was open very long, so it probably won't appear there) -

The fast and loose toying with the facts in Ostrovsky's piece is breathtaking to behold. Not from him will we learn of the Likud Charter that lays claim to all the land of the Palestinian people, the principle cause of strife there. The blockade and military siege of Gaza is no less odious, no less illegal, than the Nazi siege of the Warsaw Ghetto. He says Shalit? I say THOUSANDS of Palestinian political prisoners including women and children. He says humanitarian aid is 'allowed' in? I concur with writer Abunimah that this is treating human beings as animals in cages. He condemns the shelling of a school bus, but of course will shed crocodile tears for the 'regrettable loss of civilian life' when taken by Israel. He says there is no humanitarian or legal rationale for the flotilla - a big, fat lie. He says rockets? Another lie. Hamas abided by the last ceasefire. Israel girded to break it, murdering hundreds. Israel's collective punishment of Gaza, its occupation of the West Bank, is evil incarnate. Australians should be fed up to here with the lies that cover for Israel's crimes.
